Tutorials

Transparent Text

This is the tutorial I demonstrated in class.

Radial Blur Eyes

This is one way to make eyes pop - not suitable for all portrait obviously, but worth knowing about. I found the tips about the selection tool in this tute helpful too.

Photo Tangling

This is like a double exposure effect, except you get to retain solid parts of each image though use of the gradient tool.

Vertical Panels

Another effect not suitable for every photo, but quite fun.

Photo Text

This is the first of 4 tutorials by Lesa Snider that I've used for this assignment. I found her really easy to follow, and I learnt lots of useful tricks. This technique uses a clipping mask to turn the photo into text.

Vignette

http://planetphotoshop.com/dark-edge-vignette.html
Another of Lesa's tutes. In this one she talks about converting your image to a Smart Object before applying filters, and the benefits of doing that. I knew how to create vignettes using the Lens Correction tool (which is what Lesa uses in this tute), but I hadn't realised what happened when you using Smart Filters.

Black & White

This is Lesa Snider's way of creating beautiful greyscale images - using a Gradient Map adjustment layer.

Creative Edges

http://planetphotoshop.com/creative-edges-using-photoshops-refine-edge-command.html
This technique works best on photos with lots of sharp edges in it - like this one with the trees. If your photo has lots of big blocks of solid colour you won't get such interesting edges.
